FLAMING ARROW

Camp Flaming Arrow: one of the most memorable experiences any scout can have. This can be said for the scouts of the Griffin patrol who attended the campout.

The Griffins had a blast at the campout where the saying “so much to do, so little time” is the understatement of the year. To start off their adventure, Austin C., Jared L. and Matt Z. fired volleys of arrows on practice targets at Flaming Arrow’s archery range.

Not to be outdone, the other half of the Griffins, consisting of Austin M., Derrick C., and Carl G., went down to the rifle and shotgun range where Carl hit 3 of 5 skeet on his first try of ever firing a shotgun. Later that afternoon the boys spent the rest of their day rock climbing and (my personal favorite) repelling.

Once night fell the Griffins had a sudden crave for Italian culture in their campout, and they decided to cook pasta. But being the starving scouts they are, they also cooked some good old hot dogs over the fire. A few things slipped the scouts’ minds, however, when they decided to cook these dogs.

Firstly, it was freezing that night, and since we can all do the math, the Griffin’s had to make a big bonfire to keep warm. What’s the problem with that? The fire was almost 12 feet high and the smoke created more of a scary movie theme than a friendly campfire. Being the courageous scout he is, however, Derrick C. continued to cook his dogs and, of course, they caught on fire.

Special awards will be presented to Mr. Montes and Mr. Gallo for not letting any scout catch fire!

Thank you Carlos Montes for organizing this event.
